What is your favorite eyeshadow primer?

I've been using the same eyeshadow primer for ages, but recently (maybe formula change?) my eyeshadow has been creasing! What are your favorites? Do you find concealer works just as well?

I like to use the Tatcha Silk Canvas on my eyelids as primer. It has been demonstrated on Qvc whenever Tatcha beauty is on the air, and the say to put it on your entire face, eyelids included. It works beautifully as an eyeshadow primer, as it does for your entire face. I find that less is best with this balm though. Sometimes I get lazy and just use my concealer. I love NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop concealer but I believe it’s been discontinued, it’s not in stores and I see it online at Walmart.com and people are asking for 3-4 times the regular retail price. NYX eyeshadow primer that comes in a tube with a doe foot applicator is also impressive for the price. I use several different brands ranging from cheap to stupid expensive and I like the Silk Canvas as eyeshadow primer the best. 🌻🙂

I use Urban Decay potion primer!! It’s the only one I have ever used and I love it. It keeps my eye makeup on ALL DAY and does not crease at all!!  Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Original

UD Eyeshadow primer potion has been one of my favs! Keep going back to it over the years bc it really does hold my shadow colors for hours on end 🙂

I really like the SMASHBOX24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer! I love that it keeps my eyeshadow in place and that it prevents creasing.

I gave into the hype and bought the P Louise eye base. It was worth every penny. It holds my eyeshadow on really well.

So I have discovered the Ordinary has a face primer, and although it is meh on my face it locks down my shadows for over 12 hours easily. No creasing or transferring on my hooded and oily lids.

I just use my Tatcha Silk Canvas on my eyelids as my primer. I think it works better than anything else that I’ve tried.

@LippieLady I always use concealer, and actually prefer it to ABH, my go to  tarte Maracuja Creaseless Full Coverage Concealer 34H Medium Honey

I use Too Faced Shadow Insurance or the P Louise Base in white for them brighter looks. My lids get oily all the time and these two seem to really work.

@LippieLady  My favorite is NARS Pro-Prime™ Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base Original . It creates a nice smooth surface for shadows and improves color vibrancy. 

For very soft and/or sparkly shadows (like some of Natasha Denona’s very soft shadows, or Pat McGrath’s astral and blitz formulas), I like a grippier primer. I usually reach for SMASHBOX - 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer or TOO FACED - Shadow Insurance Glitter Glue Glitter Bonding Eye Shadow Primer. Of those, I prefer Smashbox: it really does lock shadows in place all day and prevents creasing or transferring on my hooded eyes. The only problem with grippy primers: sometimes it’s slightly harder to blend shadows over them, because of the tacky (grippy!) surface they create. But I don’t often have trouble blending things out. 

Sometimes—usually while traveling—I use a neutral/nude shade of BOBBI BROWN - Long-Wear Cream Shadow Stick as a primer. Those shadow sticks stay in place on my lids without a primer base, and most powder shadows layer over them nicely. This doesn’t work as well as my favorite shadow primers, but it does get the basic job done for me. 

Concealer doesn’t work for me as a shadow primer, whether or not I set it with powder. Concealer can make shadows more vibrant but, on my lids, it doesn’t hold shadows in place.

@LippieLady I love MAC prep and prime 24 hour eye base. Concealer as eye primer doesn’t work for everyone especially if you have oily lids but you can always test it.
