I'd love to hear what mascara everyone is using now and how it's working out! Is there one that has pleasantly surprised you or did it bomb and why?
Hmm I love the Dior Blackout but haven't tried the pump one. Glad to know 🙂
MJ Velvet Noir. I have fine, sparse lashes that never curl and this mascara does it all for me, length, volume and curl. I also like the MJ O!Mega Lash. It gets bad reviews because it's fairly dry (you never have to scrape the wand to wipe off excess), but it doesn't give as full volume and since it's dry, it's lasts only about 3 months. This is my go to for days I don't want an overdone look. There is not enough time to comment on the mascara's that didn't work for me - let's just say I've used at least 50+ mascara's.
I've tried a bunch of the ones people mentioned below, and Better Than Sex is my favorite out of those.
The one that I'm trying now, and am pleasantly surprised by, is Bobbi Brown's Smokey Eye Mascara. I get it as a points perk, and like it because:
(1) It is so easy to use. You can pile it on and pile it on and it never clumps!
(2) Your lashes feel like you have nothing on; they don't get crusty or heavy at all.
(3) Despite all that, there is a noticeable improvement in how your lashes look, and the improvement is visible even after I get home from work in the evening.
My favorite mascaras that I have ever tried are Diorshow Iconic and Buxom Lash, and that's because they both have comb-type wands and I love the look of well-separated lashes. If that's not your top priority then those probably won't be your top picks, but if that IS a priority of yours, those are the best mascaras I've found for separating lashes.
I've really been enjoying Roller Lash by Benefit. I always doubted it because the claims sounded gimmicky, but the formula is perfect for me. I usually hate "wet" mascaras because they fail to cling on to my weak, thin lashes (especially the bottom lashes!). This formula is just in the middle between wet and dry and clings so well to my lashes, even my baby bottom ones.
roller lash and better than sex are so good!!
All the high end mascaras work good for me, think better than sex is my favorite but not by much.
I've been wanting to try this; I heard the regular is better than the waterproof; which do you use?
I love both of them. They both perform SO well! The waterproof is really hard to wash off so if you like to double cleanse this is a mascara that calls for it. Also i find that the brush can pick up too much product so every so often i clean the brush (with a clean paper towel) and put it back in the bottle and I have a much smoother application. By far my favorite mascara!!
For the last 6 months, I have been using Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir major volume mascara and I love it. Before that I used Better Than Sex, UD Perversion, Benefits Roller Lash and They're Real, JM Argan Oil or Diorshow. All worked well for me.
MJ velvet noir is LOVELY. I also use Blinc's amplified a lot for more "natural" days since it's so easy to take off and adds more oomph than the regular stuff, but also doesn't smudge (great for hot days).
@Lindseyoele I've been using NYX Doll Eyes Volume and have been impressed.
