SAFE Waterproof Mascara??

I want to use waterproof mascara so that my curl holds, but I swear to you, it is damaging to the lashes no matter what I do. What has been your best non damaging waterproof mascara?

Can I ask how it is damaging your lashes? How do you remove it? @Teenyboppers 

I find letting a make up remover sit for a good awhile and then I gently emulsify it with water and use circular motions to help start breaking down the mascara helps. I might even have to do this twice. Especially if it's a strong water proof formula. Letting the product sit on my lashes to start breaking it down helps my remove it without damaging my lashes. ( Obviously keep your eyes closed if you have product on them) The second time, I wipe it off with a makeup eraser or face towel gently. 

And finish with a regular all over face cleanser.
