Removing mascara

best makeup remover I have used is IT Cosmetics bye bye makeup. Basically I'll take about a dime-sized and rub it into my brows in my eyes and then all over my face and I'll take a makeup wipe also It Cosmetics bye bye makeup wipes and get all the product off my face and then really use it to scrub my eyelashes and then proceed to wash my face. But the bye bye makeup is very good for your skin as well and it does remove all of your makeup as well as nourish your skin I seriously highly recommended and I believe Sephora sells a small version of it so you can at least try it out before you buy the big bottle. But I'm already on my 4th or 5th bottle I swear by it

@Susanr613

One of the easiest products I have found that remove mascara effortlessly is TOO FACED - Mascara Melt Off Cleansing Oil . I put it on my lashes as I would normal mascara and leave it on for a few minutes. After a bit, I use my makeup removing wipe to wipe off the mascara and it comes right off!

Re: Removing mascara

I use cleansing oil, currently Derma E Nourishing Rose -- but I tried both cheaper and more expensive versions. I found that proper makeup remover or micellar fluid is effective but too irritating for me. Also, I prefer to use my fingers rather than a cotton round -- again because of irritation issues. Cleansing oil and hand massage is good enough to remove mascara and doesn't leave my eyes a painful mess.

Re: Removing mascara

By far the best for removing waterproof mascara for me is the Clinique Take the Day Off (the original, not the balm).  I use the balm as well but the original liquid is best for getting those lashes clean.  I use it with a cotton round.

@Susanr613

Look into tubing mascaras (Trish McEvoy, blinc, Kevyn Aucoin, Thrive Causemetics) - they a) don't smudge at all and b) can be removed with just warm water -- no raccoon eyes ever

Re: Removing mascara

@Susanr613 I would recommend a cleansing oil first (I like the Tactca one) and then using a gentle makeup remover like Bioderma Sensibio and then if necesaary use makeup wipes to clean close to the lash line.

Re: Removing mascara

What products/methods have you already tried, @Susanr613

I wet 2 cotton pads with Lancรดme Bi-Facil Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover 4.2 oz/ 125 mL  and gently press them against my closed eyes (one pad per eye, of course) for 30-60 seconds, then gently wipe down and outward. Depending on the mascara, I gently wipe another 1-3 times with those same 2 pads. This gets most of the mascara (and any other eye makeup, plus some under eye concealer) off. Any good micellar water should do the trick, though I find Bi-Facil works the fastest of all Iโ€™ve tried.

Then I wash my face with a cleansing oil. Right now my skinโ€™s in love with ERNO LASZLO - Sensitive Cleansing Oil.  It usually breaks down and removes any remaining mascara.

If I still have mascara clinging to the roots of my lashes after that, I wet a cotton swab with Bi-Facil and run/dab it directly onto my lash roots. That gets everything off.

Re: Removing mascara

I third this approach! I don't always use those products exactly, but I find that soaking the cotton round and holding it for at least 30 seconds really does the trick. For the most stubborn waterproof mascara, I've recently been massaging my lashes with the FARMACY - Green Clean Makeup Meltaway Cleansing Balm with Echinacea GreenEnvyโ„ข, mostly because I have a sample tub to finish, then cleansing as normal. It does an excellent job.

Re: Removing mascara

Seconding the suggestion from @WinglessOne ! Her method with Lancome Bi Facil is exactly how I use it and it works really well for me.

Re: Removing mascara

I feel obligated to mention: Erno Laszlo cleansers can probably be found for MUCH less that Sephoraโ€™s price at your friendly neighborhood TJ Maxx or Marshalls. ๐Ÿ™‚ Whenever I see it at one of those stores, I buy 1 or 2 bottles since I use it so regularly.

Re: Removing mascara

I've been using Neutrogena eye makeup remover for at least a decade. But when I really can't be bothered to use separate eye makeup and face makeup removers, I also love the Sephora Collection wipes--particularly the watermelon one. I love the scent, and the packaging is so fun.

Re: Removing mascara

@Susanr613 I find that SEPHORA COLLECTION - Cleansing & Exfoliating Wipes do a great job of removing my mascara gently. I use a coconut one around my eyes, then a rose or yuzu one for the rest of my face. I wipe my eye area very gently and the mascara seems to slide right off.

Re: Removing mascara

@Susanr613 I never have good luck with using a remover before I wash my face.  So, I wash my face after I get home from work.  Then, I use a remover before I wash my face before bed.  I use MAKE UP FOR EVER - Sensโ€™Eyes - Waterproof Sensitive Eye Cleanser.

Re: Removing mascara

@Susanr613 I typically use a two pronged approach:

1.  Use makeup remover on a cotton pad to get most of it off - I find that Clinique Take the Day Off works best for me

2.  Swipe with an Almay Waterproof Makeup Remover pad, as mentioned by @TrysBeautyItems    below.

If any residue still remains after I wash my face, I use another Almay pad.

Good luck!

Re: Removing mascara

Oil based cleanser/remover, that's for waterproof makeup to break it down. Let it sit a minute before wiping. Almay pads, blue label is oil based, work well.
