PLAY! by Sephora subscription box; is it worth it?

I have been looking online and have come across two $10 a month subscription boxes. I originally was going to purchase an Ipsy subscription when I came across the Sephora box. I figured this would be more worth it because I know I can find all the products at Sephora and it comes with beauty insider points. on the other hand, I'm not sure if its worth it. has anybody purchased this subscription box to tell if its worth it?

I love the Play box compared to the others. I started with Birchbox and then added Ipsy. But dropped ipsy after a year. I was finding that I was using maybe 1 or 2 of the items that were sent each month and ended up donating the rest of the items throughout the year. It got to be the same with Birchbox after awhile too. I had that one for almost 3 years. I have had Play! for almost 2 years and am happy with 95% of the boxes I get every month. Allure is another box that isn't too bad either for $15/mo and the ones coming up the rest of the year are pretty decent! And it was just announced that ipsy is doing a plus version with 5 full size products monthly too!

I have had the Sephora box for 6 months now, and I have been pleased overall.  Am I in love with every single item?  No.  But I'm okay with that, because I have discovered several products that I have ended up purchasing full sizes of since they were in my box.  

Items I don't use, I give to friends.  They love me for it, haha 🙂  But in all honesty, I do enjoy the Sephora box.

It's really a hit and miss for me.  Sometimes I like what comes in the box, other times there is hardly anything that works for me.  I like that I get a surprise and get to try new products out.

I have the ipsy subscription, and I do like it, but i personally prefer my boxycharm subscription for $10 more you recieve 5 full size products instead of just sample sizes and they are all luxury products.

@Anonymous It really depends what you are looking for. In comparison to ipsy I would say pros are that you will get more "luxury" brands as opposed to drug store items. I'ts a great way to try out luxury skin care as well. Additionally, like you mentioned you'll get beauty insider points and all the products can be purchased at sephora. Cons are that unlike ipsy you'll never get full sized items and there is significantly less control over what you get. You fill out a beauty profile with sephora play but you cannot make requests to get certain options.

@AnonymousPersonally the subscription wasn’t worth it for me but my niece loved it. I would recommend looking at the prior boxes for sale to see if those contain items you would be happy with. I’ve purchased a few this way and was much happier.  https://m.sephora.com/brand/play-brands/all
