Mermaid eyes

Hi! I'm throwing my daughter a mermaid-themed 1st birthday party and I'd like to do a colorful eye look for myself. Does anyone have mermaid-inspired eye looks that I can borrow? I need inspirations, my fellow beauty lovers! I have hooded eyes so if you have one, too, please be my muse!! 🙂

Re: Mermaid eyes

You should try Tarte's Mermaid palette!

RE: Re: Mermaid eyes

I got the whole set and definitely planning to use it! Just needed some inspirations from fellow hooded eye beauties! (Sadly, my eyelids can’t relate to the YouTube tutorials I found. Everyone on YouTube seems gifted with eyelids. They never turn out the same on my eyes. :()

Re: Mermaid eyes

Hey, @AbiTheMUAddict! Whenever I want to do a mermaid look, I use these three colours from Buxom: La-la Lavish, Twilight Tryst and Room Service. I put the lilac colour all over my lid, the minty green on the inner corner (I also blend it out a bit towards the middle of my lid, but you don't have to do that) and I use the darker blue on the outer edge of my eye. I don't have a picture of it for reference so I hope what I'm saying makes some sort of sense. I also add each eyeshadow underneath my eye to match where they are on my lid. 😊

I’ll definitely try this out! Thanks!

Re: Mermaid eyes

That's so cute! I think you should check out Tarte's mermaid collection! The shadows are really fun and good quality and they have lipglosses and everything to match!

Re: Mermaid eyes

Hi, @AbiTheMUAddict.

What an awesome party theme, and Happy (early) Birthday to your daughter! 🎉🎂🎁

I'd recommend looking through The Pretty Magical Challenge thread for inspiration. It's where quite a few people have shared magical/mermaid/unicorn inspired looks. We have a Mermaids & Unicorns thread on here, too. I'll link both for you below. I'd also suggest browsing youtube for mermaid makeup tutorials.

Also, here's a mermaid makeup tutorial from Glamour that I previously shared in the Mermaids & Unicorns thread.

RE: Re: Mermaid eyes

You’re beautiful and really talented! I’m not sure I’d be able to copy your eye look though. I have hooded eyes and so the colors are would most likely not show up when my eyes are open. 😞 I’ll check out the the threads you mentioned though. Thank you!!

Re: RE: Re: Mermaid eyes

You're far too kind, @AbiTheMUAddict, but that's not me in the picture. The tutorial is just a Glamour article I stumbled upon this past September. The model does look gorgeous, though! 😉

I have hooded eyes as well, so I I know how frustrating it is to be unable to replicate most makeup tutorials.

I'd suggest using pictures and tutorials solely as inspiration (pay attention to just the color combos and disregard the specific eyeshadow application) and then apply the products in a way that works for you.

For me, I always ignore steps that involve the crease or outer v. I also avoid winged eyeliner and cut crease looks because those do not work on me either.

Instead, I just apply eyeshadow to my lids - the darkest color goes on the outer third of my lid, the mid-toned one is placed in the center, and the lightest is applied to the inner corner. I then gently blend where each eyeshadow color meets to make it look like each color seamlessly transitions into the next. That is the template I use for pretty much all of my eyeshadow looks. It also doesn't even matter how many eyeshadows I use as long as the colors go from darkest (outer) to lightest (inner) when applied to my lid.

.

Lastly, you could always play around with makeup ahead of time to see what works and what doesn't.

I hope this helps!
