Applying lashes

I just bought lashes and lash glue for the first time! I’m super excitedto try them! Any tips for applying lashes for a newbie? How do I cut them if needed and how do I know if they need cutting?

@gennapie1 A lash applicator or tweezers will help holding it while it dries. Usually wait 30 seconds for the glue to get tacky and rock it back and forth. I like using duo because it dries clear. You will want to hold them up to your eyes to measure the band and then cut off the excess.

@SportyGirly125 Thank you for the tips.  I struggle a bit with lashes

Re: Applying lashes

Hi @gennapie1!

Falsies usually need to be cut down to fit your lash line.  I line up the falsie to my lash line and see how much I need to cut.  I cut them a tiny  bit shorter than my actual lash line.  You can use a regular pair of scissors or those small scissors used for trimming eyebrows for a more accurate cut.  I usually keep an old pair of falsies that's already been cut so I can use that as a guide when cutting a new pair.

Applying falsies can be tricky.  Curl your real lashes and add a light coat of mascara so it blends in with the falsies.

I put lash glue on the lash band and wait until it becomes clear and feels tacky.  If you apply them right away, the glue will be too wet and your falsies will slide off or mess up your makeup.  It usually takes 30 seconds for it to be come tacky.

Looking down at a mirror instead of straight at it will help you see the lashes better and where to place it.

Apply the falsie first in the center so you know it lines up correctly without going past the inner or outer eye corner.  Then I attach it to the outer corner and the inner corner.  Lightly squeeze the falsie lash band to your lashes so they stay on.

I love using my Velour Lashes Too Easy Lash Applicator  when applying falsies.  It's made it much easier for me to apply falsies with the applicator, but some people prefer using their fingers and that's fine if it works for you!

If you're just starting out and want to practice, cheap falsies from Target or TJ Maxx/ Marshalls, etc. are great options.  I do find them to look a bit cheap and plastic like so I don't use those.

My favorite pair is the SEPHORA COLLECTION Luxe Silk False Lash since the shape of the falsies make my small eyes look bigger.  I use it with the SEPHORA COLLECTION House of LashesĀ® Eyelashes Adhesive which is like super glue for falsies!  I've driven a convertible going 80 miles for 2 hours and my lashes stayed on!

Falsies should be removed and never worn to bed.  Be gentle when removing your falsies so you're not ripping out your real lashes and destroying the falsies.  I like to use a falsie glue removing solution to soften the glue on the lash band.  Then use a pair of tweezers to gently remove the glue.  With proper care, you should be able to reuse your falsies several times.  The better the quality, the longer they will last.  The Sephora Luxe lashes usually last 5-8 uses for me.  The nice mink ones will last up to 20 uses.

@RAWRitsRED Excellent guidance for lashes!

Thank you so much for responding to my question!! Would micellar water be a good choice to soften the lash glue first before taking them off?

Re: RE: Re: Applying lashes

@gennapie1

Yes!  Micellar water is great for removing falsies.  I use micellar water on a cotton pad and lightly press on my lashes/lids until the falsies start coming off before gently taking them off with my fingers.  You can soak your falsies in a small bowl of micellar water for 15 minutes to remove the excess mascara, glue and dirt.  Take a q-tip and wipe down your falsies.

Don't use anything oil based since it will damage the falsie band.
