Advice for Pat McGRATH eyeshadows!

Hi everyone, I hope you’re all doing well during this quarantine. I just ordered my very first Pat McGrath eyeshadow palette (mothership V) and I am so excited! I just wanted to know, is there a special way to applyher shadows, specifically the glitters? I’ve never used glitter glue but do I need to purchase some for her formulas? Tia for all your advice!

@NylaKM Use your fingers for glitter shades. You can use glitter glue as well, but works just fine with regular eye primer.

I also noticed that people who didn't like this palette tried to incorporate too many glitter shades in one look. You will have better luck if you use 1-2 matte shades to outline the shape, then add 1 glitter shade on the lid.

Thank you so much, that’s good to know, my problem is I love sparkle but I will try to restrain myself lol

Last night I watched an uber in depth video discussing the differences in PMG palettes and the best ways to apply them. —— Her name is Kinkysweat (she’s a fitness professional lol) and the video is titled “WHICH PAT MCGRATH MOTHERSHIP PALETTE IS FOR YOU?!” Other advice: YouTube ppl using the palette and even try going for ppl with a similar skin tone. Good luck and remember to have fun!!

Looking her up now!! Thank you so much!

@NylaKMI also second Kinkysweat, Mel Thompson also has some great PMG look videos

Re: Advice for Pat McGRATH eyeshadows!

@NylaKM @I have that palette. Some work better with your fingers or spraying MAC Fix+ On your brush

RE: Re: Advice for Pat McGRATH eyeshadows!

Thanks! I am a bit of a rookie but should I spray my brush after dipping it in the shadow? I’ve heard doing it before can make the shadows hard and I am so scared of damaging this palette lol

Re: RE: Re: Advice for Pat McGRATH eyeshadows!

@NylaKMyou can also try a rubbery applicator like HUDA BEAUTY - Fender Blender Dual-Ended Sponge & Silicone Eyeshadow Brush if you're worried, but as long as your fingers are freshly clean you should be fine! You can also pick up a bunch of product on your brush and spray the brush with the fix + instead of the getting it on the palette. The pans in the mothership are also huge so you could reserve one side of each color for fix+ and the other for dry use

Re: RE: Re: Advice for Pat McGRATH eyeshadows!

@NylaKM @I like to spray my brush and then dip into the pan. You can always wipe the pan with a tissue Afterwards to clean off the shadow. I have done this with a bunch of palettes and it has never ruined them
