Dry skin

What is the best and most hydrating moisturizer for dry skin?

Re: Dry skin

@ECPM

I have really dry skin and sensitive skin as well I use the Dermalogica brand to cleanse and moisturizer the calming products. To take my makeup off I use Clinique Take the day off balm. I always cleanse twice at night. Due to wearing makeup everyday. I also use these disposable very soft paper towels from Clean Skin Club to dry my face. (Cleanskinclub.com) I never use a hand towel they can be rough and have germs. I have also used the facial wipes from Clean Skin Club they're gentle. I am gentle with my skin and I always use a sunscreen, I use EltaMD I buy on line from the skinstore.com. We just need to take more care with our dry skin. I'm 66 yrs old now and I've managed pretty well. Good luck

Re: Dry skin

Hi @ECPM dry skin is no fun, especially in the winter.

Can I ask about your skin care routine?

What do you use day and night, all products serums etc... Where are you experiencing dryness? any sensitivities you might have?

If I just reccomend a moisturizer it might not be a good fit for your unique skin ️ so any information helps 😉

Re: Dry skin

@CynthieLu @Thank you for your response. I have been using the Tacha brand. I use the water cream and the silk peony for daytime, the Indigo overnight cream at bedtime.
I have also tried the JLo beauty blockbuster wonder cream and the JLo glow serum. Also  the keys soulcare skin transformation cream.
my skin is sensitive and very dry, especially on the cheeks along the nose.

Re: Dry skin

@CynthieLu @No my skin is not red or inflamed. It’s just very dry and even with all the products I use it never looks moist or glows, just dull.

I have had sensitivity  to some products before, like Mary Kay and Biossance that I could remember

Re: Dry skin

OK dullness is a separate issue, but if you have no irritated, inflamed skin, no redness, it does sound like just dryness.

From what you've said, you don't use and serums or actives in your skin care, just cleanser and a moisturizer?

(I'd recommend adding an sunscreen in your daytime routine)

So for dry skin here are a few things to consider before switching brands,

- wash with water that isn't too hot or warm, it can strip your skin. I aim for luke-warm

-pat your skin dry instead of rubbing with a towel, it pushes moisture back into the skin, it's like mini hydrating step

-I personally don't wash with soap in the morning, just water. I save my cleansers for night time but my skin is very dry naturally

- when I start to apply my serums or moisturizer my skin is still damp, I don't put them on dry skin.

Masks:

Masks can be really helpful in hydrating the skin, once a week I like to use hydrating Masks, these ones are great

#Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin™ Cream-Infused Mask 1 Mask / 1 Mask

#Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin™ Skin Barrier Moisturizing Mask 0.77 oz / 22 g

#Dr. Jart+ Cryo Rubber™ Masks 0.14 oz/ 4 g Ampoule + 1.41 oz/ 40 g Rubber™ Mask with Soothing Allantoin

This cream was nice too

#Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin™ Skin Barrier Moisturizing Cream 1.7 oz / 50 mL @ECPM

Re: Dry skin

That was a long post, but to add to it @ECPM if you're not using actives or serums, You could consider adding a face oil to your night routine. It goes on after your mousturizer and seals in the moisture.

It can be very helpful with dry skin, a drop or two is all you need.

I like this one #The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil 1 oz/ 30 mL for my night routine, not to be used with actives like Retinols etc..

Re: Dry skin

@CynthieLu @Thank you for these tips and pointers. I appreciate you taking the time. I will add a weekly mask and some nightly oil and see how that goes. Thanks again

Re: Dry skin

Happy to help 🦄

I hope you see some positive results @ECPM Patience is a virtue. It can take a few weeks to see your skin start to turn around. So don't give up and give it time.

I started keeping a skin care journal to help me keep track of things, it can be helpful ️ remember try not to add too many new things all at once and over doing anything can be to much for our skin,  keep me updated if you want, I'm crossing my fingers for you!

Re: Dry skin

@ECPM I have more questions‌😅

Are you dry, or are you red, inflamed? Sensitive to what?

Is this dryness new, is any redness new?
