I feel like nude lips for brown girls can be a struggglllleee sometimes! So I thought it be good to have a place to post your favorite nude lip combos (with pics if you've got them)! For me I ADORE Stila Dolce lined with the NYX Nutmeg liner.
I love Trendsetter by Huda. Itโs a matte liquid lipstick in an orange-brown shade. I line with a reddish brown pencil.
Iโm back because I just found my perfect bottom lip matchโa โtrue nudeโโin a cream bullet formula. Many mauvey pinks are close, but BECCA - Ultimate Lipstick Love - Orchid (C) is as close to an exact match as Iโll probably ever get. Here it is, along with 2 other pink nudes while Iโm at it. I do like all 3 of these, but Orchidโs a new-to-me shade and Iโm very pleasantly surprised by it.
In each lip swatch, the left side shows my bare lips and the right side shows the lipstick. All photos were taken tonight in interior lighting.
Tonight I realized Iโve never really tried to shade-match my top lip. Sometime this week, Iโll search my lipstick hoard for a true nude thatโs as close as possible to that color. Itโll be tricky! Iโm sure I have a lip liner thatโs close, especially since the perimeter of my bottom lip is also that color. But Iโm challenging myself to find a lipstick shade instead. Hooray, another potential excuse to go lipstick shoppingโjust what I need! ๐คฃ ๐คช

This is a look I did on a co worker, I used NARS Spunk liner and ByTerry click lipstick in #27
I wanted to do full lip swatches of all these (and a few other) shades for this thread, but I keep missing the best daylight hours for that. So instead, here are swatches on my arm in indirect daylight through a window, with interior lighting in the backgroundโso you can kinda see how each shade shifts in daylight vs. indoor lighting. I wanted to represent a nude range from pinks to browns.
I included 2 sparkly Pat McGrath BlitzTrance shades, mostly because folks often ask me how all the PMG โFleshโ bullets (BlitzTrance, MatteTrance, Lip Fetish Balm) compare. Unfortunately the glitterโs barely visible in this photo. Flesh Fatale is from the first BlitzTrance release; Flesh 3 is from the newest BlitzTrance release and feels creamier. ColourPop 27 may not seem like a nude shade to anyone whose lips arenโt naturally mauve/berry toned, but itโs one of my favorite shades by any brand and I reach for it frequently.

Hereโs a very recent photo of me wearing MAC Double Fudge. Since MAC discontinued the Liptensity line this year, I donโt know if you can find this shade anywhere. (I bought backups earlier this year.) But if you can: Liptensity bullets are very creamy comfy to wear and super pigmented, with very graceful weardown throughout the day. I still say theyโre the best lipsticks MAC has ever madeโand Iโve worn various lines of MAC lipstick for decades.
I have been using a deep thoughts by smashbox and using a dark brown lip liner. My go to nude look.
Overall I can say I hated my makeup today but I liked my lips! Sephora Molassas liner, Too Faced You Better Work, topped with Pat McGrath Bronze Divinity.
Too Faced and MUFE has some great nude options for us. Here I'm wearing Too Faced - Indecent Proposal. No liner needed. One of my favs.
Because of my career, if I want to wear makeup to work, my lips have to be nude. I adore Mented Cosmetics for their product line filling that void. I can use their lippies, liners or glosses and be g2g.
They're soft, moisturizing, and long lasting.
Great topic @IttyxBittyxMe! I feel like that's such a thing sometimes, so I've never been too big on it. I think last year I just found a few things that work for me. For nudes, I try to go warm (mauve or brown) instead of pinky nude, which even as a tan person, can pull corpse-like. Even then, I usually layer the nude color with something because if I don't, it doesn't work for me with the exception of NYX's lip lingerie (Although the consistency can be off with LL.) I like the shade range, and they stay on fairly long. I also think Natasha Denona just came out/coming out with a bunch of nudes. So as far as with layering, I pair KVD Lolita with OG Lolita lip liner. Creates a pink with a hint of mauve. Or, I use gloss + liner. Fenty's Gloss bomb with a liner is a good nude for me, or Hourglass Unreal in Strike with KVD Lolita. Also...although technically not a nude, I like Fenty's Stunna lip paint in unveil. When I layer my nyx over it, it's my perfect nude. Pic is gloss bomb on the right, KVD lip + liner on right

My interpretation of โnude lipโ might be slightly different than others, partly because of my natural lip color(s). Hereโs an older photo of my bare lips vs. a sheer plum MLBB shade: Lipstick Queen Chinatown Glossy Pencil in the shade Mystery. Itโs a crayon style gloss stick. LQ tends to frequently discontinue lipstick lines, but the Chinatown pencils might still be available at eBay or Amazon.
