promo item stuck in basket

I cant check out because a promo item is stuck in my basket. I removed the promo code and the item was not removed. When i click check out this error message pops up "The order contains item ({0}) with invalid price". The delete/trash button is not there and the number is grayed out. I have tried adding the promo code an removing but doesnt help. What else can I do?? Help!
