is there anyway return gift without sender know you return it???

quick questions.. My friend bought me makeup set from tarte, but I have similar one as the one my friend gave me. I would like to return for store credit or exchange something else. the thing is new sephora return system will flagged my friend account and she will know I return that item. I had done this do I know it will let the sender knows that items have returned. I don't know return without receipt using driver license. is there another way i can do???
