Yet another pending paypal authorization issue

Greetings!

I placed an order online the other day, then cancelled it right away. Since then however, the amount has been sitting in paypal as "Pending authorization". I contacted paypal and they informed me that there was still a hold on the funds by Sephora. I contacted Sephora, and they told me that paypal is holding the funds. A quick google search brings up countless stories similar to mine. This has never ever ever happened with any other online retailer, and the fact that I am far from the only one who has experienced this shopping online at sephora, leads me to believe the issue lies with Sephora.


Can somebody please resolve this for me? I don't want to have to wait 30 days for it to 'automatically fall off'. I need somebody from Sephora to cancel the authorization.

Hey I saw that you are in a similar position as me. How long did it take you to receive your money back ?? I contacted PayPal and they are telling me that I need to contact Sephora for them to cancel it because it’s still pending but they told me they already cancelled. Who exactly did you contact and what did you tell them?

 

i spend 213 $ and they stated to wait 30 days and until then PayPal can’t really do anything 😞

Pretty discouraging to see other new support posts being actively replied to, whereas it seems that nobody from Sephora wants to touch my issue with a 10 foot pole 😞

I'm sorry your post wasn't responded to! As your recent order was cancelled, please rest assured we have not charged you for it. The amount you may be seeing on your Paypal is a temporary pending authorization, not a charge, and it will automatically drop within a Paypal cycle. I'm sorry for the wait and appreciate your patience!

Hey @DaneeBT  thanks for your reply, I do appreciate it.

 

I really don't want to have to wait 30 days for this authorization to be removed, and as per PayPal, Sephora are the only ones with the ability to remove said authorization 😞

"If you need to cancel a PayPal order or authorization on your account, please contact the seller directly. An order or authorization is an agreement between you and the seller to purchase an item for a set amount, and PayPal doesn't have the ability to cancel that agreement.


To find the seller's contact information:

  1. Click Activity at the top of the page.
  2. Click the transaction in your list of recent transactions.

On the "Transaction Details" page, you’ll see the seller’s name, email, and, if available, the seller’s customer service phone number."

Can you please escalate this in order to have the authorization removed? I have already phoned Paypal and they confirmed that the authorization can only be removed by Sephora 😞
