I placed an order on 06/28/17 and when I received it I noticed that none of the free samples that I had selected were shipped to me. Instead I received three completely different samples.
The time before this this that I placed an online order I didn't receive any samples at all. I'm not sure if anyone else has been experiencing problems with their online orders or if it's just me. I placed another order two days ago and I hope this one finally arrives correct.
While I agree that there has got to be a better way to handle the sample situation, for those who get samples they don't want and have no use for, please don't throw them away. Save them and when you get a baggie full, donate them. There are dozens of organizations who will gladly take unused samples of skincare, fragrance, and make-up off your hands. Organizations that help at risk adults enter or reenter the workforce (if you don't know where to find one, a jail ministry will be able to point you in their direction or look at the Dress For Success web site), homeless shelters, organizations that put together care packages for teens in the foster care system, and groups that supply new and gently worn prom dresses to teens who wouldn't be able to afford to attend prom otherwise.
Most are also welcoming to new cosmetic bags, make up brushes and applicators, hair care, etc. Food pantries will often welcome items like soap, shampoo, and lotion as well as feminine protection diapers and wipes, and pet food. Homeless shelters and soup kitchens welcome donations of new and very gently used clean socks. In fact that is the #1 request of men's shelters.
I keep getting men’s samples. It’s frustrating since my man is very particular about what he uses and most of the samples I’ve gotten give me headaches.
Why bother asking us to select what we want if they’re just going to toss anything in there? I chose Sephora mud mask and concealer samples the last few times and keep getting men’s cologne. I’ve given up on samples.
It happens to me each time I order. It may be just samples but if Sephora ask us which sample we want, we expect to receive the samples we choose. By the way, is Sephora ever answer about this problem? Too bad😔
Drives me nuts, too! I actually spend time reading about the full size product before selecting the samples, only to get completely different samples when my order arrives. Also. Sephora’s navigation bar claims “3 Free Samples with any Purchase” but only lets us select 2. No point in selecting them when you end up getting random stuff. What gives?
I didn't get the samples I wanted with my last order. I always choose cruelty-free brands. The samples I ended up getting were not cruelty free. One was even a men's fragrance. I don't have a significant other and my brother doesn't like fragrance.
Yeah it’s frustrating ... just got my order and got 2 completely different and to be honest useless samples. What’s the point of picking them if you don’t get them. Just an unpleasant surprise. Aldo noticed that invoices don’t include sample discription I wonder if that could be a reason why. Ppl who pack the boxes just put whatever inside.
Same thing keeps happening to me. I’ll choose makeup or mud mask samples and keep getting men’s cologne.
Ohhh believe me. I’ve had orders with no samples. I just got an order received today with samples I didn’t want, and didn’t receive not one sample I wanted. The past few times it’s been like that, and after a while I realize Sephora isn’t as professional as I thought they were. They must have a bunch of idiots that hate their job working there.
I select samples that I wish to try before purchasing a full size. The random samples I received have no relevance to what I wanted, so I just toss away into the garbage. What a waste.
Happens to me too. I rarely receive the samples I choose and they are constantly dumping perfume cards in. Since the 4th grade I’ve only worn one scent, No 5. Throwing samples at me that usual give me headaches won’t make me change.
Its so frustrating because I can’t go out and sample in store because I am disabled.
I think they really need to rethink their packing process. Not only is there a constant sample issue, but I only get my orders gift boxed (which I pay for) about 50% per cent of the time.
The same thing just happened to me, & the samples I checked are still listed on Sephora as available. I've asked them not to send me perfume samples (Gucci Bliss smells like bug spray) but they still pull that bait & switch. I know they reserve the right to substitute, but this is just plain wrong.
Where do you request to not get certain brands?
Because im in the same boat. Keep getting men’s cologne samples that give me severe headaches.
Hi @LadyRed501,
We're so sorry to hear this and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We do provide substitutions for out of stock samples. We appreciate your feedback and will forward it to the appropriate team for review.
Best,
Penelope
me too...ordered samples on products I was considering buying...it's a nice feature that they let you select the samples online v. "bothering" the reps in store for samples of products...So why do they let you select samples and then send whatever is available? They aren't even comparable. I requested a sample concealer and got perfume. How is that even close to the same? EPIC FAIL SE

PHORA...very disappointed.
If Sephora wants us to try new products, they might start by sending us the samples they assure us are in stock. Instead, they send stuff we don't want & then they're probably surprised when nobody orders full sizes of the samples we DID request. Here's a tip, folks: if you want to sell a product, try sending your customers the samples they asked for.
I just received the wrong samples too! Do not want points, want the actual samples!
I either receive the wrong samples or none at all. Even the beauty offer promo codes, I rarely get what I want. Its really frustrating.
