Why so many foundation samples?

as if cutting down to 2 random samples (because let's face it, they're rarely what we choose), wasn't bad enough, why does it seem like every time there's a sale, the samples all become makeup foundation samples?  is it like... you have tons to unload because nobody ever chooses them?  sale time is a good time when we're gonna buy, despite terrible sample options. 

i just feel like foundation is probably the one thing most people don't switch around between or experiment with new brands.  i know some people must surely be hunting for a new foundation, but... most of my friends and family agree that we already have a foundation we're loyal to and it's the other stuff we experiment with.  plus, i only need 1 or 2 shades, if I'm doing guesswork about choosing a color, the other shades i am sent are such a waste of good product!  i never choose foundation samples. I'm so irritated that every time sale time comes up, that's all I have to choose from.

Here we are ... in  2023 ... and once again there's nothing but foundation samples in the beauty offers section and at checkout 😂 I'm still fairly new to shopping at Sephora, and thought this was some sort of funny and weird situation ... apparently it has been ongoing. Over the past year I've also received foundation samples as swaps for the things I actually selected. I get that companies pay sephora for placement, but geesh, spread it out a little. Clearly no one is interested

I SO agree!! 
It’s 4 years later, and still the selection is about 90% foundation. I don’t even use foundation; and I agree, it’s a total waste when you get a bunch of shades that aren’t even close, regardless.

I completely agree with you! I will hold an order until I see some samples I’d like to try and hate getting foundations since I can only use one and it’s rarely a match for my skin anyway! If I need a new one, I’ll actually go into a store and get a consult for the current issues I’m having with my skin. I guess they cut down from 3 to 2 since they usually only give me 1or 2 anyway. I honestly think the people working in the shipping dept take out the good ones for themselves since I can see what I’ve requested (and not received) is still available to select as a sample online. Now I’m having issues with being sent USED products, false lashes, eyeshadow palettes, hair curling wand, a set of 3 perfumes and body wash. They all had packaging which was obviously opened and used and fingerprints, hair, makeup on them and product missing, etc. Make sure you check all your orders!
