Website stated “ product is available, last updated 3 hours ago”

Can someone please explain why the Sephora website is almost always WRONG regarding what is available in stores? I am anxiously waiting for the in-store release of the new MUFE eyeshadows. I’ve heard both good and bad reviews. I want to be able to swatch them before I buy them. I went on the Sephora website and searched for them in-store. The website said that they were available near me, in 2 different stores. It also stated that this info was last updated 3 hours ago!!! Needless to say, I drove to Sephora and not only were the shadows NOT available in the store but there were many of the “discontinued” MUFE shadows were fully stocked!! I can understand how the website may lag a little bit, but this is completely unacceptable!!! I then asked an associate when they were expecting them to start coming in, they stated within a month. They could’ve just told me they were not sure. I’m not complaining about the associates because I happen to really like them. I feel the problem comes from the higher ups, the ones running the show and making the $$$. It blows my mind how a company that is raking in $$$ can’t even come close to getting their website right. Imagine if we all worked this way at our jobs!! I do realize it’s only makeup but it’s so aggravating and annoying!! I’m beginning to think the trend towards Ulta may be the way to go,plus their point system blows Sephora’s out of the water. I might let my VIB Rogue run out and start shopping somewhere else. There are many other places I can spend my money.

@hollied Surely you can understand that with any company out there that there will be a margin for error between physical inventory and what it states is available online. Customers can come in and make a purchase, the inventory may be there but be on hold, the inventory may be there but be damaged etc. I always call regardless of the store and have them do a physical check and put the item(s) on hold for me so as not to waste my time.
