Vanilla Gift Card Not Working

Hello, I was given a vanilla visa gift card and I registered it with my zip code and there is more than enough money on the gift card to cover my purchase (online it says there needs to be 20% extra for a hold and I have 50% extra). However, the payment keeps getting declined. All other posts about this have resolved with private messages. How do I resolve this?

I had trouble with my Vanilla Visa gift card 2 days ago even after linking the correct address to the card. Per this site’s own advice I tried use my Visa gift card to purchase a Sephora gift card for the amount I needed to use instead. I got an email it was declined but it still took all the money from my card and left it pending (it’s still pending, btw). After all that I called Sephora customer service and was told “yeah, our site can’t accept Vanilla gift cards” and I should use different funds to buy your products, which really defeats the purpose of using a gift card. 

So now I have a useless visa card and no products to show it.
