Unused Gift Card $0 balance

I received a $50 Sephora gift card and added it to my account shortly after. Initially, it showed a $50 balance, but when I went to make a purchase later, it reflected a $0 balance. I called the number on the back of the gift card, and the representative told me it had been used for a purchase matching the card's amount. However, I checked my account and found no purchase history for that date. I was then transferred to Sephora's customer service, where the representative was very polite but unfortunately couldn't provide more information about the alleged transaction. I'm not sure what to do next.

I’m so sad, same thing happened to me.. I got a GC for my birthday and when l went to use it at the register.. I scratched it off for the first time and there was a 0 dollar balance. I let them know it was not me, and didn’t know how this was possible. I called customer service twice and they basically spoke to me like I did something wrong and could not remedy the issue 😞

Hey! This just happened to me today in store also.  I scratched the number right in front of the cashier. Unused gift card for $80 with a zero balance when I was at the register to check out. I was advised to contact the number on the back of the gift card and that rep told me indeed the card was activated and was used today for a transaction and to reach back out to Sephora. I was then instructed by the Sephora rep via chat to wait 48 hours to see if the system had a glitch and possibly the balance reloaded. If not I am to call the gift card rep number again and find transaction details .. date , time and location and reach back out to Sephora if it matches the store I was at. I really don’t get how the balance vanished. Maybe the cashier or computer  made an error… 🤷🏻‍♀️ Hopefully things work out for both of us ! 🤞🏻

Hello this has just happened to me. I have a $50 GC I was using the amount populated when I entered the card and pin number and I hit NEXT then it went to next window and said re enter I did and it said $0. Initially it showed the $50 on my gift card 

 

Please assist in this matter. We have given so many gift card for this holiday season I do not want to be embarrassed

This happened to me today. Went to spend $125 gift card that I got for my birthday on some makeup for my wedding but checked out and was shown a $0 balance. Chatted customer service with 0 help - wouldn't look into anything for me. So I called a number and she said the card was activated, then used online in full. I hadn't even received the gift card at that point. She told me I should have taken better care of my card and treated it like cash. When I hadn't lost or even scratched off the safety seal until today. Horrible customer service. This seems like a Sephora problem if people are able to steal gift card numbers as soon as they are activated.
