Unsuccessful Authorization yet Charged

Very upset that my first online order with Sephora was cancelled claiming unsuccessful authorization when in fact it was charged to my credit card last week!  Seemingly many other customers experienced the same. I find such business practice dishonest. Please refund ASAP!

Hi @Anonymous @Halsey712,

Sorry to hear about this! Generally speaking, pending authorizations from unsuccessful order attempts fall off automatically within 7 business days with your financial institution (they are reversed immediately through Sephora). It may take up to a full billing cycle for international credit cards. If you're still seeing any holds after this timeframe, please call us at 1-877-SEPHORA so that we may assist you further.

Bisous,

The point is, why would you hold the funds in the first place if you can detect which orders you don’t want to accept?! You said my shipping add is a US forwarding co and you don’t accept it - why not reject it when I entered it?  Why didn’t you state it clearly upfront?

Re: Unsuccessful Authorization yet Charged

I have experienced this several times over the last year. Each time the funds are removed from my card, my bank says the authorization went through and was successful on their end.. but sephora cancels my order and then holds the funds for 30-45 days. It's getting out of hand.

That’s so upsetting. Did they ever explain why?  Or just gave random excuses?  In my case they said because I was shipping to a US forwarding address. I don’t see what’s the problem, when my credit card address is a personal/ residential one.
