Stolen gift card

I put my gift card information into the Sephora app but never checked out before going into work on January 11th around 9am. For weeks since then I’ve been trying to check out my cart, but it hasn’t been working. So I called the card and there’s $0 on there. It was used at 9:50 in the morning after I had already went into work for the full amount of the $100 but they can’t tell me anything else about the transaction. 

 

sephora customer service says that they cannot help because gift cards are like cash and can’t be replaced. They really need to figure this out because it seems like everyone goes through this. My husband got this gift card in cash in store for me for Christmas and now it’s just gone.

 

I definitely will be going to Ulta now since Sephora customer service sucks so bad. I even have a Sephora credit card that I’m going to close after this whole mess of us losing our money to theft through their app!

This is currently happening to me as well. My gift card is damaged and when I uploaded a receipt of purchase and included the gift card number, customer service is telling me the balance is $0 when it’s never been used! They will also not provide me with the gift card usage.

This just happened to me! I checked the balance on it and try using it once and it now says it’s at 0! And they claim it was used on the 9th of this month I never used it or bought anything and now I am missing the 50$

that’s terrible, nothing like having a credit for a Christmas present and not being able to use it
unfortunately it’s not the fault of the store when this happens there’s hackers out there. They get your information while your transactions happening. They steal your stuff

look at it this way if you gave somebody $50 and they lost it or it got stolen out of their wallet would you be responsible for that?

that’s exactly the problem all stores operate the same way if not, they would lose money and go out of business. They can’t be giving money away to everybody.

so when the gift card gets purchased, the full amount is on there. If someone steals the amount, why should they be held liable.
