Sephora staff :/

I made my first return today ever. In over 8 years. It didn't go well.

 

I went to the counter to return two products I got four days ago.

 

One was a foundation that was too drying a common problem with the a certain new brand the store is carrying. The other was the porefessional. I grabbed the mattifying instead of the regular primer.

 

I told the sales guy the foundation was too matte. He did the return. When I came back to purchase another item. He and two other associates were checking out a customer and he started to talk about me not even noticing I was near the counter watching the whole thing.

 

"So I did a return and she said it was too matte and she had a mattifying primer" The intonation in his voice implying dimwittedness without outright saying it. Then they started laughing. As if I used both together. Not simply getting the wrong one.

 

I then walked up to counter and said "Yeah it was me". The other associates quickly dissappeared. He was pretty silent while ringing me up.

 

I find this inexcusable. A return is a return. Within the time frame no questions or comments are needed.

 

What does it look like having Sephora staff talk about a customer while ringing up other customers at the same time. Beyond tacky. 

 

I don't expect people to be perfect or not talk amongst each other but at least have the common sense not to do it at the register where the person in question can witness the entire thing.

 

I've had problems with rude staff at Sephora before and switched to ulta for a bit  but now I'm completely put off. I'll only enter the store to swatch and will order online.
