Sephora inside JC Penney gift card

my super wonderful husband got me a Sephora gift card. he purchased at a Sephora store. but it says "Sephora inside JC PENNEY on it. and on the back it says it can't be used at Sephora store or online, but he purchased it at the Sephora store. so, I'm super confused.

Sephora Inside JCPenney gift cards are only valid at JCPenney stores or JCPenney.com. They are not valid on Sephora.com or at freestanding Sephora stores. You can learn more here:

Uuuugh same! This is ridiculous and Sephora JCPENNY employees should make sure to inform those purchasing the gift card of this. My husband has no idea the difference-he just knows I like Sephora products. He knows I like shopping online. Unfortunately the inventory at our local JCPenny Sephora is limited and it was such a hassle ordering online through JCPENNY website. They do not have the same type of shipping-extremely slow along with a rather boring and limited  assortment of products. You do not get any samples or VIB points added with your purchase. To say the least I was highly disappointed. 

There should be a sign for those purchasing Sephora JCPenny gift cards stating that they can only be redeemed at Sephora within JCPenny or through JCPenny website. This is bad business!

This just happened to me as well. Spent a long time choosing what I wanted to purchase only to find out I can’t use at Sephora.com - I will never ask for a gift card from Sephora again!  Wasted time!!
