Sephora has shady privacy violations

(1) I learned today that Sephora is selling and sharing our information and personal details and shopping habits to third parties like TRE, etc.

There is a class action lawsuit against TRE right now - add your name to the list if you ever shopped at Sephora.

(2) Sephora is not letting loyal customers who have spent thousands of dollars do valid returns WITH receipts. Just google “Sephora TRE return ban” or simply search “TRE” within THIS customer service board. Hundreds of thousands of women and men have been banned when they have a legit receipt and the product is unused or turned out to be bad for their skin etc, and it’s within the 30 days or 60 days return window.

(3) Sephora staff have no racial sensitivity training. My friend was told her skin was too dark for any good foundation colors. In the news, SNL star Leslie Jones let us know that HER black makeup artist was treated SO poorly because of her skin color (and racist comments, discrimination  etc- read the story online)that she started crying!!!

(4) Sephora racially profiles women of color. Google it. Several cases in the news.

(5) Sephora employees say ‘buy buy buy and try try try and if you don’t like it you can always return it.’ This is a LIE. Sephora hired a third party called TRE (the retail equation) with whom they SHARE your personal details (hello privacy violations) and this TRE company will ban you from returns for no good reason. Just read the horror stories on THIS community board. I searched ‘TRE’ on this website and found over 30 women who had legit returns (with receipt, within 30 days, unopened product) but were banned and humiliated in store.

if this is how they treat loyal customers, we should not spend our money here.

Sephora, can you address ANY of these issues without having one of your bots issuing a canned response?

see you in court.

Do you know where we can add our name to the class action law suit list?

Thx

Re: Sephora has shady privacy violations

WOW. I suspected all of this for quite some time!!

Their racial discrimination issues never sat well with me. My friends have been racially profiled. Over and over again.

The whole TRE saga is sad but true. There IS a lawsuit against them. Sephora hires them so Sephora doesn’t have to be the bad guy and it’s a third party telling you that you can’t do a return.

Problem is, the algorithm TRE uses is wrong as you can see by the MANY complaints here of women with valid returns who haven’t returned anything before only did OnE or TWO returns and are following ALL other guidelines.

Dont shop at Sephora- they tell you to try a product and if you don’t like it return it- so you feel

empowered to try several colors / brands and when you try to bring ONE back Bc it didn’t work out you get denied. I’m all for them denying BUT be transparent and say that ‘this third party hat we have hired may ban your return for reasons we won’t be able to tell you so DON’T buy diff colors and try diff things. Our return policy is not consistent.” Why can’t you say that Sephora? Why can’t you tell the truth?!

oh I kno. Because you DGAF about your customers, you’re a coward and would rather LIE in order to get us to spend more money and then act innocent when a valid return gets banned.

Between this and the racism towards any POC who gets racially profiled (hello Leslie Jones and SZA and countless others), and the terribleeeee Bonus points program and the lack of dark foundations for dark skinned women, and the nasty attitude of sales clerks and the robotic bots on here who do NOTHING but canned responses. People need to break up with sephora!

Take your money elsewhere.

Go to Ulta, Amazon, any other beauty website.

Sephora has lost our trust and doesn’t care one inkling about ANY loyal customer.

RE: Re: Sephora has shady privacy violations

I was just informed that the link I posted would be removed from violating Sephora’s policy on external links. Just another way they are trying to silence this issue or pretend it doesn’t exist. I have been a loyal consumer for 10 years and have been VIB rouge for the past few. The past several returns have been painful and uncomfortable experiences, even new items with seals still intact. I plan on using the few for cards that remain in my possession and finding a more consumer friendly company to make my makeup and skincare purchases from.
