Sephora gift card

Hi,

I just went into the Sephora store and when I went to checkout the employee asked me to scratch off the part where the grift card number is. My credit card I used ended up scratching half the number off. I spent over an hour in store trying to call the different customer service numbers the employee told me to call, to get absolutely no help. I have the PIN number and proof of the receipt that shows the balance. How can I use my gift card that was given to me?
