Sephora gift card scam

I got a gift card from Sephora for $50 for my birthday I was so happy and I went to check out and they said it had already been used they said to call coustemer service of where the gift card was bought from and it’s rare but they might give me money back I was so sad has this happens to anyone else if so what did you do and did you get your money back?
