Sephora gift card problem

On March 22 I purchased at Kroger a Sephora Gift card for myself knowing about Spring sales event. Today I scratched the number and pin on the back of the card and when I tried to use it says I have $0 balance! I haven’t used it and I have receipt and prove of activation. How is it possible? Where did my funds go?

Same thing happened to me. I received a $50 Sephora gift card (purchased from like a target, Kroger, grocery store etc.) and when I went to use it today, it said $0. I called both the gift card line and Sephora customer relations and they basically told me it’s my problem and there is nothing to be done. Like you have a gift card scam problem. And I’ve seen it happen before, especially when these store gift cards are bought at third party retailers. But the fact that they tell me there is nothing that can be done is unreal. It’s not as though anyone saw my gift card numbers and used it. It’s a hacking scheme. Sephora is so shameless for the way they treat their customers who get screwed. And they don’t care.
