Scratched off gift card number

Hi!

I received a gift card for christmas of $100. As I was trying to access the gift card number, I noticed the last half of the digits were scratched off but the PIN number is still visible.

I tried using in stores but says there is $0 balance. 

I had my mother in law send over her receipt of the gift card activation code. 

Please help!
