ScentCertificate Too Old?

I have an older ScentCertificate I got as a gift. 

I took it to Sephora after reading online that these don't expire.  
The cashier scanned it twice + told me to go get my fragrance. 
I asked another member for help to get the fragrance from the locked drawer. 
She told me that size in D+G Light Blue doesn't exist anymore and advised I reach out to Customer Support. I tried online and they told me these don't work after 2021.  

Shouldn't I be able to select a product of equal or lesser value like in the box at the least?

Appreciate it @keelybt I actually ended up taking it to a different store and they allowed me to redeem it with no issue.
