Same day delivery cancelled

I've tried making a same day delivery purchase twice now and both have been cancelled after a few hours. I know the items were limited stock but at the time of purchasing and for a few hours after it still said it was available to buy. I wish it would have just said out of stock in the first place so I wouldn't have tried. I am going to try purchasing something that says in stock rather than limited and see if that works. third times the charm.
