Sale return policy

I was super disappointed to go into the Boise,ID Sephora store to exchange a foundation I had purchased online during the 20% off sale they had. I went in to exchange my foundation- that I hadn’t used at all- to find out that even if you exchange foundations without opening them, you have to pay the difference in price.  Apparently Sephora  has a deadline for when you can exchange it and not get charged the difference. I found this so ridiculous because it has never happened to me before. The girl helping me gave me attitude because I asked “I have to pay a difference?” And made me feel like I was dumb for not knowing that this was their policy. If this is policy, it needs to be made more clear because it’s ridiculous I’m paying a difference just for exchanging a product after I got it during a sale period.
