SEPHORA GIFT CARD SCAM

On January 18, I purchased a $100 gift card at Walmart. I kept it until January 30, when I gave it as a gift to a friend.

When she tried to use it at a Sephora store, she discovered that it had no balance. I immediately contacted your customer service, and they asked for the card number, which neither she nor I knew at that time, as the back of the card had not yet been scratched.

It was only after my call that my friend scratched the card and sent me the information. When I contacted customer service again, I was informed that the card had already been used for an online purchase, which is impossible since no one had access to the number before that moment.

I was told to contact my bank, but Sephora must take responsibility, as this is a gift card from your store, and there has clearly been fraud.

The exact same thing just happened to me!!! Received a gift card in March from a friend because my house burned down, has been in a drawer in the packaging since. Took it to a store today and they said it had a $0 balance. I called the support number and they said it was used on April 4th… zero chance that was me. I hadn’t even scratched the numbers until today. When I googled this, there are SO many people reporting the same thing. Now I’m supposed to call my friend up and hope she has a receipt from months ago so she can dispute with her credit card company? Such a joke & @sephora takes zero accountability.
