Returns headache - anyone have advice?

So my mom doesn’t have a sephora account and doesn’t buy things online, she’s old school and out of state. So she gave me her credit card number to order $100 worth of stuff for christmas to be delivered to me in California. It’s technically tied to my account/ rouge but it was paid for by her credit card. If i want to exchange it or return it for another product will it have to go back to her card and I’ll have to end up buying my own christmas present? How does this work? Any tips? I’m worried the moisturizer may break me out based on a few reviews and i may need to swap it out for something else if it doesn’t work for me. How to gift returns work for sephora? Could I return it for a gift card?

Your local Sephora store will gladly assist you should your moisturizer not work out. If you have specific questions about making your return, please contact your local store directly.

You can go to the store with the receipt and the items your returning and ask for a gift card. If they say they cannot give you that then ask for the store credit so you can make your new purchase for the items you want. It would be great if they gave you a gift card because you can use it online. Store credits can only be used in store.
