Returned Exchanged Items for refund but got store credit instead

Hi,

On October 11th, I went into the store to return items that I previously purchased then buy new items. The store attendant suggested she could do an exchange so it’s one transaction, I asked if I would be able to get a refund if anything didn’t work out, she said yes.

Today, November 9th, I went into the store to return 2 items as they didn’t work out. 

The store attendant told me she could only give me store credit since i did an exchange.

Note: I didn’t exchange a foundation shade for another or anything like that. I initially went into the store on October 11th for a full refund of my items but I was browsing the store and saw new things I liked. These could have been 2 different transactions but the attendee said she could do one and it was fine.

This seems very fraudulent and purposefully misleading. I would love some clarification on this, thanks. @@Customersupport
