Purchasing out of stock items

I have been purchasing gifts, and for myself since Black Friday. This situation has happened to me a few times. It says an item is in stock and I order it. My order may be pending for a few days. Then my order will be canceled or the rest of it will be shipped canceling out an item. I'll look online later and it will be back in stock. So I order it again. Then it's the same thing over and over-like Groundhog Day. Why is an item offered for ordering, then you're waiting on it, then you don't get it? I won't even complain about the samples anymore. The samples I pick out either don't come at all or are totally different, but you are still offering them as choices. My nearest real Sephora that's not in a Penney's is two hours away. If it was closer, I would forget ordering and start going to the store. I'll give you five stars though for neat packaging, my order always being correct, and nothing ever damaged. I'm very thankful for that. If anyone could answer my question I would appreciate it.

Thanks-but after two attempts I finally ordered it from QVC. I'm just not a Rouge there.

Wish I could help, but unfortunately I have the same problem, and I can't even say that my order is correct. (Usually, not always.) I'm still mad about the samples, only because it's terribly bad business, and they could easily put a disclaimer, it's the promise that is so irritating. But the whole out of stock thing really gets me. Here's hoping someone has an answer.
