Promo stock sadness

I placed an order recently just to be able to add the Sk-II sample promo. The order went through just fine. Few days later I get an email saying that the Sk-II has been removed from my order since it's out of stock and the rest of my items are being shipped without it. Not so fun as I reeeally wanted to try it (in an amount bigger than a tiny store sample to see if the product is worth the splurge.) Would of been nice to at least of been able to choose another promo to add instead, but whtvr. My question is, why is it still being advertised on the app if it's out of stock? You can still add it to the cart even. Why disappoint even more people rather than just have a set amount of promo activations per item inventory? This has happened a few times even with sample choices and other promo codes too. Bummer.
