Promo codes?

I have tried to type in two different promo codes, the yourgift one and nofomo one. Whenever I type it it brings me to the screen to pick my sample but once I do that and exit the sample screen it says my promo code is invalid? How? Sephora.com is current with the yourgift code so I don’t know what’s going wrong. I admit I don’t like to checkout without trying to take advantage of a promo code so I’m just waiting with items in my basket haha
