Promo code item out of stock

Hello.. I placed an order of $52 today just so that I can receive the Tatcha Vit C serum with it using the promo code. But then I received an email saying that the product is out of stock. If the item was out of stock , they should have updated the information, so that I could have used a different promo code. I made an extra purchase just for this sample and now I am not even gonna receive it. Is there a way I can add another promo code to this purchase because it’s not fair to me that they allowed me to place the order when the particular item was out of stock ?
