Points Expired

Hi, I'm writing this to help my friend. We both legitimately didn't know that points could expire. My friend had like thousands points but she stopped shopping at Sephora at one point because financial was hard that time, so this time she wanted to buy some things from Sephora and her points were all gone. Can those points be reinstated? Like please because her points were like really a lot
