Pickup item out of stock

I put in an order for pickup for multiple items, and after paying and getting the update it’s ready to pickup, it says one item is out of stock. It’s quite an expensive item and since I won’t be getting it I don’t want to be charged then have to wait however long for a refund. How do I just get it shipped to me? It seems wild you can pay for an item listed as in store stock but isn’t, then be charged. Pretty poor inventory system 😞 what happens next?
