PayPal Issue

So, this is the third time I’ve had an issue with Sephora’s PayPal checkout,.. I make sure my preferred payment is selected through PayPal before checking out, yet it STILL charges an account that does not have enough funds? As a result my order is very delayed to ship or I am charged a fee. 
Can I fix my current order’s payment method and ensure it’s the right one before the payment is processed again?? I don’t want to go through this for a fourth time....
