I'm curious if anyone else had an allergic reaction from using OLEHENRIKSEN Banana Bright+ Vitamin C Eye Crรจme for Dark Circles 0.5 oz / 15 mL eye cream recently? I made an order (December 2022) and used points to try out the Banana Bright. After 1 use I woke up with red, swollen and itchy under eyes. I saw the product was reformulated to avoid this, so I'm wondering if I was given a bad sample or what? It's extremely painful and won't go down with topical steroid or Benadryl!
I am having this reaction as well. I've been fighting it for weeks thinking it was caused by something else. I've been to urgent care and was told it was allergies and to take Claritin. Claritin did nothing and my eyes became worse. Thank goodness this was posted or I would continue using this product.
Having the same reaction! Is oral steroid the only solve?
Same for me. Itchy, swollen, red eyes. I tested it on my arm to be sure, and I did not have a reaction. Last night, I decided to test it on my neck, and like clockwork, I woke up to itchy, swollen red skin. How can Ole Henriksen and Sephora continue to offer this product?
I thought it was just me. I donโt have sensitive skin. Iโm not allergic to anything. I used the cream for probably a couple months. Then all of the sudden my eyes turned red and puffy and had sores. I didnโt think it was the cream. I stopped using everything on my eyes until they healed. Still not thinking it was the cream I tried again wearing it again two days ago. I had an immediate reaction. Itโs the cream.

Yes, I've had the exact same reaction - very disturbing!!! This should be taken off the market. And compensation given to all of us who have suffered an allergic reaction like this!
I have had the same experience . I used it for a month or so without issue. Slowly over time I noticed my eyes staring to become irritated. It is winter so I thought I was developing eczema even though I have never had eczema before. Fast forward another week I started having some worsening redness and minor swelling. Then one day after using this product my eyes were nearly swollen shut, red and my skin under my eyes started peeling. I had to start oral steroids for the swelling to go away.
I had the same thing happen to me.

Iโve been trying to figure out what is going on with my eyes and just stumbled across this thread. ๐ฏ % this is my issue too. Count me in for the class action law suit.
Iโm suffering with tis too! Been battling for months now with swelling, red, sore, flaking around eyes and have been trying to rule out the cause. I was told by my dermatologist that a contact allergy reaction can last for 2+ weeks after contact, and having eye reactions are common even when product not near/on the eyes. Iโm now on a high/short dose of prednisone and steroidal cream safe for the eyes, hoping it helps.

I am having the exact same problem. I used to use this product years ago (during which time I bought the full size version) and was excited to see a sample size available with my Sephora points this recent January. I have been using this eye cream intermittently over the past few weeks, and have been noticing redness and dry flaky patches but thought nothing of it. Today, however, I woke up with very swollen, red under eyes and dryness. I am very unhappy that this product continues to be sold to customers. I will be going to an ophthalmologist this week if the reaction continues.
Same issue here. Iโve used this in the past with no issue, but the sampler version of the eye cream gave me horrible swelling. Iโve tried it twice on separate occasions over the past ~month to see if it could something else and same both times. This needs to be pulled as it seems quite common reaction to new formula.
Just used it last night for the first time. Woke up with swollen eyes and redness everywhere the cream touched. I canโt bear to take my picture. Cold compresses and ice arenโt working. May have to go to a clinic. This is appalling. Allure magazine called it the best eye cream. Beginning to think they might be shilling for companies that pay them.
I should've remembered when I got this year ago and developed an eyelid rash so terrible for MONTHS that would not go away. I received it in the January sample kit and thought I'd try it again-- woke up the next day out of my sleep due to the itching which felt like it was coming from my skull, and puffy red eyes. It took oral steroids for the swelling to go down and itching to go away. Checked the reviews on this item (which are all terrible!) and chatted with Customer Service to ask why it was included in the sampler set, they didn't really care and gave me 250 points for the trouble then disconnected the chat!!!
I also noticed it was in the January samples when I was recently at Sephora. I spoke with the manager and told her my experience with it (peeling face for months). She was horrified but not in her control to do anything about the samples. I think itโs disgusting that Sephora, knowing the amount of complaints on this product, continue to promote it!

I used this eye cream around the end of 2019 because my eye lids were dry and I loved it. So I asked for it for Christmas this year 2023, and started using it and after 1-2 uses my eyes started getting a sort of rash at the corner so I immediately stopped using it. I donโt understand why itโs like this for me all the sudden I thought maybe my skin changed, but if itโs happening to this many other people as well, then itโs definitely a problem with formulation.. itโs sad because I loved this stuff but now itโs going in the trash and Iโll probably never buy it again.
I never want to buy from this brand again period after what happened to me with the eye cream.
I had the exact same issue. Used the cream on my eyes for a few weeks with no reaction then started having dry flaky eye lids to a few days later swollen puffy burning lids. I stopped and used cetaphil till it went away and then tried it again and bam, same reaction only worse.

I put this on my eyes before I went to sleep. Woke up to eyes burning. I washed off with waterโฆ still burned. Woke up to eyes almost swollen shut. I tried cold compress, didnโt help. Cucumbers, tea bags, Benadryl, antihistamine eye drops all didnโt work. I had to do a tele-health visit to get prescriptionoral steroids. Eyes are still bad but at least I can see now. I canโt believe they are still selling this! If you have sensitive skin, do not use this!
I got the same reaction.
my eye lids swelled too and got very itchy now I consulted my doctor and using medicine h ft or that
