Not allowed to film in store?

I am a beauty influencer and content creator. I was in store today filming content for a brand campaign on my iPhone 14. I was just filming the brand’s products on the shelf when I was told by the store that I am not allowed to film unless I get permission from corporate.

I tried to tell them that I was just doing content for Instagram for some brands but they maintained their policy. Yet I see people posting in store content all the time. I am wondering if this has happened to anyone else? Have you ever written to corporate to ask for permission to film for social media use?

Re: Not allowed to film in store?

I was just in the Sephora at the Nashua mall, NH- I introduced myself, said I was asked to film this display from the brand . The manager ANN, First brought me over to the dark corner (looked like the lights were broken) asked me if this was it. I said yes. I will film then do a voice over at home so I will be out of the way. She left then immediately came back, asked if I had proof from the brand. I should her the invite for the campaign, not agreement. She then proceeded to tell me I cannot film the display, that Sephora does not allow filming in store. I said just this Sephora, she informed me every Sephora, this is the rules. I asked if she was sure about that? Because I watch MANY in store videos of Sephora employees, content creators, etc filming content. She explained she is sure. I said sure no problem thanks. This woman was so rude, never smiled, made me feel less than. I’m not there to film anything but the display.

Re: Not allowed to film in store?

Yeah that’s so stupid, because Sephora is a public store and my grandma can’t Walk and she need makeup so how can she the texture ? The images on the web is no the same like in the real video …i never come back again that Sephora and their new politice … Ulta is much better bye
