No gift message?????

I see from several posts that the gift message function has been removed.  This is crazy!  How hard can it be to print this out on the insert?  I am going to be buying the exact same product from Amazon so that I can send it to my friend.  Ridiculous.  I have no idea why Sephora would stop offering this option — seems crazy to me.  I will definitely be shopping Sephora less often because of this.
