My gift card balance is wrong (missing!)

Yesterday I tried to place an order online, but after clicking check out, the item was sold out, so I could not continue to place my order. However, the gift card I tried to use was charged. I didn't realize that I was charged until I shopped at a store today and found out my gift card balance was wrong (missing). Please help! Thanks!
