Mail Back Return is Ridiculous

I returned a few items from my order (foundations and a mini hair spray) that were lightly tested—well within what I’d consider “gently used.” Days later, I received an email from Sephora stating that their distribution center had “received” my return but would neither refund me nor send the items back. Why? Because they decided the items were “more than gently used.” 

The customer service's response is also quite disappointing. They told me there was nothing they could do because of “system limitations.” How can distribution warehouse have higher authority than the cooperate? So essentially, the return process is a black box, and if they decide against you, wish for a luck. You're out both your product and your payment.
