Kohl's Employee redeemed my points without my consent

I recently made a purchase at Sephora at kohls during the holiday season. I put in my email so I can receive my points on my Sephora account as I was buying an eyeshadow palette, and it seems the employee on their end redeemed "500 points for $10 off your purchase" without my consent. Never once was this mentioned during the transaction. This was EXTREMELY upsetting as I was intentionally saving up my points. Has anyone ever had this happen before, and if so was there any resolution?
