KICKED OUT IF SEPHORDA FOR FILMING LOS ANGELES

I am a live streamer and I like to film myself daily and run errrands. Today I got asked to stop filming in a public area. I wasn’t loud, I was very respectful, and I almost felt racially profiled. She said it was for “other guests”. I have spent over thousands of dollars here and I felt very uneasy 😕  I was incognito mode in a hat, and was filling a segment where I paid for someone randoms cart instead of mine. Shame lol!

Re: KICKED OUT IF SEPHORDA FOR FILMING LOS ANGELES

UPDATE!!!! I actually just got an email today from the Sephora manager and she apologized, said in my state it was a violation of my rights and offered me a $50 gift card. Yay!!! Thanks Sephora  🙂

Re: KICKED OUT IF SEPHORDA FOR FILMING LOS ANGELES

@makeupluvver29 , You should always ask any business and or person first before filming. This may be an every day occurrence for you but many people do not want to be filmed!! This is very invasive and rude.

Jokes on you, I actually just got an email today from the Sephora manager and she apologized, said in my state it was a violation of my rights and offered me a $50 gift card. Yay!!!

Re: KICKED OUT IF SEPHORDA FOR FILMING LOS ANGELES

@makeupluvver29 I'm sorry to hear about your experience and thank you for sharing it with us. If you have additional questions or concerns about our store's policy about filiming, I recommend contacting the store directly and you may request to speak with the Store Director.

Re: KICKED OUT IF SEPHORDA FOR FILMING LOS ANGELES

Thank you the store manager emailed me with a rightful apology. Thank you!

Re: KICKED OUT IF SEPHORDA FOR FILMING LOS ANGELES

@makeupluvver29  I can’t imagine anyone would feel comfortable having someone ‘random’ film them while they’ve got their card out, trying to punch in their PIN number or giving their phone number or email to get their points.

Every store has the right to set boundaries to protect the privacy and security of the guests while on their property.  Stopping someone from recording  others at the register seems an appropriate duty of care.
With something like filming a strangers transaction (which is a huge security risk) it would be helpful to contact any future businesses in advance to first ask if they even allow filming on their property (stores are still private property even though they are open to the public),  to see if there were legal documents to sign to protect all parties first, and to allow the store to take steps to ensure no private information of their other patrons could even potentially be at risk.
