Is this how Sephora works?

So, I'm a little upset at the fact that my order has been canceled but yet Sephora "DID NOT" contact me whatsoever to let me know that my order was canceled due to "out of stock" SAMPLES! Is this how sephora works?!! They just don't send you an email saying your order has been cancelled etc.... it's been 2 weeks now and still nothing about my order so I have to go to my account and check what's going on with my order and to only find out it was cancelled. Like they could've kindly send me an email telling me about and I can either choose a different samples or no samples at all. I really don't care about the samples but my product that I've been dying to try. Well, that went well.... I'm not going to put in another order. I probably won't even order online again. I'll just go walk in whether they have it in store or not.

Yeah, on the samples selection page it says: "Substitutions will be made for out-of-stock samples."

You'll get a different sample item
