Is something going on with same day delivery?

I cannot figure out what is going on today. I placed an order for same day delivery this morning, at 9A. App and confirmation email said it will be delivered by 8P. Marked as preocessing, so I just went about the day. 
Around 4P I realize it’s never been sent out, unusual, usually the order is processed within a couple hours and sent out. I canceled that order in the app, and placed a new order at 4:20P (local cut off time said 5P) again, the delivery said by 8P. 
this order has been marked as processing since then. 

I haven’t had any issues with the Same Day option and I’ve used it many times. I reached out to live chat and didn’t really get an answer, just was told it should show up tomorrow. 

I ordered before cut off, so not sure why tomorrow. 
But the original 9A order never being processed is doubly irritating.
