How does sampling work?

I'm new to sephora and makeup in general so I'm trying to find new products for me. I heard that we can sample but it wasn't very clear. How many samples can we get? What kinds of products can we sample? Can somebody explain?

In the store you can test out products or ask for samples. Anything liquid or cream can usually be made into a sample if it comes in a jar or squeeze-tube. Some concealers that use tube/wand system probably can't be made into a sample. Ask a Sephora artist for help and they'll guide you in the right direction.
